Recently Injured? Important Facts:
- Report your injury to your employer and to the WSIB immediately or as soon as possible.
- Know that a claim must be filed with the WSIB within six months of the date of injury.
- Get immediate medical treatment and report to the physician that your injury occurred while at work.
- Obtain the names, addresses and telephone numbers of any witnesses to the accident.
- Keep a journal of all of your medical appointments, tests and surgeries.
- Keep in contact with your employer regarding the availability of modified workplace duties. You have an obligation to cooperate.
- Be aware that if you disagree with any decision made by the WSIB, there are strict time limits for objecting to that decision.
- Compensation is available for survivors and dependants of injured workers whose death is related to a workplace injury or disease.
